Play Map LA
Last updated: September 25, 2026
Play Map LA aggregates storytimes across systems — Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL), LA County Library, Pasadena Public Library, Burbank Public Library, and other local branches — so parents can search by neighborhood, day, and age instead of by system. Families don't think in library jurisdictions; they think near me, Tuesday, for a 2-year-old. We complement — not replace — your official calendar: every listing links back to the branch's official event page with the correct time, address, and registration details. No duplicate registration, no scraped description beyond the public calendar.
Already maintain your own calendar? Keep it — this page shows how a branch or system can keep linking to the finder as a discovery layer so families find you even when they start from a neighborhood search, not your homepage.
Live hubs and tools that stay current without staff rebuilding a list each week. Each event deep-links to its official source — we are a discovery layer, not the registrar.
System-wide rollout (LAPL, County, Pasadena, Burbank, etc.) uses the same adapter + attribution model — one integration points many branches at once while each listing still links to its branch calendar. See our source policy & methodology for how we collect, approve, and attribute listings.
Families discover nearby branches they wouldn't know to check — especially in mixed-system neighborhoods (e.g. a County branch a mile away but a City search starts on LAPL). A single neighborhood-filtered list drives program attendance without staff promoting across systems. Parents who search storytime near me land on a useful list that routes them to your official page to confirm time and register — you get the visit, we don't intermediate.
Keeping a link even when you have your own calendar means you capture discovery intent that starts outside your site — neighborhood, age, and free filters that your calendar alone rarely serves.
No scrape, no contract — a plain link is enough for attribution. Keep the Powered by Play Map LA line on any embed or blurb and keep it accessible (descriptive link text, iframe title).
