FAQ

What age should kids start swim lessons?

The AAP supports water-acclimation classes as young as age 1, and many LA programs take infants from about 3–4 months with a parent. Formal independent skills usually build from about age 2–3.

How much do swim lessons cost in LA?

Free or low-cost at some YMCA / city programs; commercial schools often run roughly $37–$45 per lesson or $148+/month; city sessions can land around $58–$114 depending on residency. Survival intensives cost more upfront.

Parent-and-me or drop-off?

Parent-and-me until roughly age 3, then follow the school’s readiness guidance. Kids progress faster when lessons match their separation comfort.
