The Art of the Crossfade DAY 2 The Art of the Crossfade DAY 2 will build upon Friday night’s lecture, exploring the DJ crossfader as an analogy for cultural intersection. Saturday’s program will bring a community workshop and a live mixtape performance to the Grand Performances mainstage for an afternoon and evening of music, conversation, and camaraderie. COMMUNITY WORKSHOP Join DJ/Producer J.PERIOD and USC MacArthur Fellow Josh Kun Saturday afternoon at Grand Performances for an interactive community workshop that uses the crossfader to create a new mixtape for Los Angeles. Attendees are encouraged to share one song that they feel tells their story and says something important about who they are—where they come from or where they're at. J.PERIOD will mix the shared songs live and will incorporate select songs and stories from the afternoon workshop into the evening’s headline event, The Live Mixtape, which will begin at 6 pm and feature a star lineup of renowned artists, DJs, and special guest hosts. Organized in partnership with Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory , Miry’s List , ALMA Backyard Farms , and The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA). The Art of the Crossfade’s community workshop will bridge cultures, share resources, and build collective stories.
