STEM from Dance Club

Girls remain underrepresented in many STEM fields, and this program is designed to build confidence, critical thinking skills, and a sense of belonging for girls in science and technology. This STEM from Dance program invites girls ages 13–17 to explore how science, technology, and the arts can intersect in creative ways. In this four-session STEM from Dance program taught by Caltech scientist and educator Dr. Jess Kanwal, participants will explore neuroscience and machine learning through fun, hands-on activities including building simple AI tools to recognize dance moves, measuring muscle activity, and discovering how the brain and body coordinate movement while learning dance. No prior dance, neuroscience, or AI experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to move and learn! Four-week session. Attendance at all sessions is required.
