End of Summer Celebration: Japanese Garden Anniversary

Celebrate the end of summer and the 60th anniversary of our beautiful Japanese Garden with an evening of live performances, art, and hands-on activities throughout the gardens. Exclusively for Descanso Gardens members and La Cañada Flintridge residents Experience traditional and contemporary Japanese culture while enjoying special exhibitions and performances. No event registration required. This is a special night for members and one of the busiest evenings of the season—rideshare, carpool, and biking are encouraged! Performances 5–7pm: Koto Music & Ikebana Demonstration with Saeko Kujiraoka Zirkelbach & Kaz Kitajima 5–7pm: DJ Set with Rosie Yasukochi 5pm & 6pm: Poetry Reading with Naomi Hirahara 5:30pm & 6:30pm: Taiko Drumming with Kishin Daiko Activities (5–7pm) Calligraphy Workshop & Demonstration — Kuniharu Yoshida Origami Craft Station — Japanese American National Museum Art Exhibitions (5–7pm) Sound of Water: Feminine Expressions of Fluidity at the Sturt Haaga Gallery LA’s Garden at the Boddy House Food & Drinks Refreshments will be available for purchase at The Market, Jones Coffee, the Rose Garden, the Promenade, and the Main Lawn.
