About This Event
Olvera Street merchants' nine-day Día de los Muertos festival, celebrated for nearly 40 years. Each night a procession led by Aztec dancers and "Living Muertos" winds to the Kiosko for a ceremony honoring a merchant family or community member, with free sweet bread and drinks for everyone. Community altars (Las Ofrendas) are on display all day, with daytime entertainment on the weekend days. Teatro del Barrio performs La Danza de la Muerte nightly at 6:00pm. Face painting is available for a fee from independent artists.
